"Q" is for Quote

A quote from the book Into the Wild which sums everything up nicely...

"So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more dangerous to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man's living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun."— Chris McCandless

"I" is for I hate Blogs.

Yes it's true, I hate blogs. That being said I am a huge fan of efficiency, something blogs do a great job of achieving.

It is exactly one month til my departure and I am feeling fairly neutral about the whole ordeal. That may be somewhat surprising to hear but it still seems like something that is ages away. There is also the issue of saying goodbye to everyone which is somewhat tainting my excitement but I am sure that will subside.

Now a little bit about my trip. I leave for Sydney on January 11th arriving there on the 13th. On the 14th I am flying to Adelaide in the south of Australia where my friend Kim, her friend Kristine and I are renting a camper van and driving up the coast back to Sydney. We are planning on taking about five weeks to get back up to Sydney with stops at any/all interesting locations. We will be in Melbourne on January 26th for Australia Day (a.k.a Canada Day for Australians) where we got tickets to "Melbourne's Big Day Out" an all day music festival featuring the likes of the Arctic Monkey's and Winnipeg's own Neil Young! Surfing and scuba have also been added to the "things to do" list and I am sure a few beverages will also be consumed at some point.

For those of you who know me, know that I don't like to make promises I can't keep so I don't want to sit here and tell you that I will update this every week. I will do my best! What you can expect however is alot of pictures and even more dry sarcastic humour.

If anyone reading this has done the Australia thing before please send me any information that you think would be of use to me (i.e. cool things to do, see etc)! k.chubey@gmail.com

That's about it for now...
